Eleven years ago, I published a book called “Tools of Engagement” about the “new” world of social media.
In it I described the popular belief that the key to engagement was through humanizing online interactions. For example, people in business were encouraged to talk about other aspects of their lives and share images and videos of their broader interests and hobbies.
